Making Chocolate Swiss Roll at Home

Ingredients

  • 4 eggs

  • 1/3 cup raspberry jam (optional filling)

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  2. Line an 11x15 inch jelly roll pan with parchment paper, making sure the paper overhangs on two sides.
  3. Beat the eggs and sugar in a mixing bowl until light and fluffy. This should take about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Add the vanilla extract and continue beating until well incorporated.
  5. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Fold the dry ingredients into the egg mixture until just combined.
  7. Pour the batter onto the prepared pan and spread it out evenly using a spatula.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes until the cake is firm and springs back when touched.
  9. Remove the cake from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before turning it onto a towel dusted with powdered sugar.
  10. Carefully peel off the parchment paper and roll the cake, using the towel to assist you. Let it cool for 10 minutes.
  11. Unroll the cake and spread the raspberry jam evenly over the cake, leaving a 1/2 inch border.
  12. Roll up the cake again and place it seam-side down onto a serving plate.
  13. Optional: decorate with whipped cream. Refrigerate and enjoy!
