Delicious Apple Pie Recipe

Ingredients
- 1 double pie crust recipe (homemade or store-bought)
- 8-10 medium-sized apples, peeled and sliced
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 egg white, beaten
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (218°C).
- Place half the pie crust in the bottom of a 9-inch pie dish. Set aside the other half for the top crust.
- Melt butter in a saucepan. Add flour to form a paste. Add water, white sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg and bring to a boil. Reduce temperature and let simmer.
- Fill the crust-lined dish with sliced apples. Pour the sugar and spice mixture over the apples.
- Place the other half of the pie crust over the mixture and cut several slits in the crust to allow steam to escape. Brush the crust with the egg white.
- Bake for 15 minutes. Reduce the temperature to 350°F (177°C) and continue baking for 45-50 more minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and let cool before serving.
