The Recipe: Self-Indulgent Chocolate Cake
This self-indulgent chocolate cake is the perfect dessert for a special occasion or just when you want to treat yourself. Here are the ingredients and directions:
Ingredients:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup hot water
Directions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients and mix well.
- Gradually stir in the hot water until the batter is smooth and well combined.
- Pour the batter into a greased 8-inch (20-cm) cake pan and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool for a few minutes in the pan, then remove it from the pan and let it cool completely on a wire rack.
