This self-indulgent chocolate cake is the perfect dessert for a special occasion or just when you want to treat yourself. Here are the ingredients and directions:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup hot water

Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add the vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients and mix well.
  4. Gradually stir in the hot water until the batter is smooth and well combined.
  5. Pour the batter into a greased 8-inch (20-cm) cake pan and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean.
