Sourdough French Toast Recipe
Sourdough bread is delicious and makes a great breakfast choice. If you happen to have some stale sourdough bread, don't throw it away! You can easily turn it into a tangy and sweet French toast. This recipe is perfect for breakfast, brunch, or even a dessert.
Ingredients:
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup of milk
- 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
- 4-6 slices of stale sourdough bread (1/2 – 1 inch thick)
- 3 tablespoons of unsalted butter
Directions:
- Whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and cinnamon in a mixing bowl.
- Add slices of sourdough bread to the bowl and allow them to soak for around 5 minutes. Flip the bread slices halfway to make sure both sides are soaked.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and melt a tablespoon of butter.
- Carefully place the soaked bread onto the skillet, and cook each side for around 2-3 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Repeat the process for each slice of bread, adding more butter to the skillet as needed.
- Top your French toast with your favorite toppings, such as maple syrup, fresh fruit, whipped cream, or chocolate sauce.
- Enjoy your delicious and tangy sourdough French toast!
