Poha: The Popular and Easy-to-Make Breakfast Dish
Poha, also known as flattened rice, is a popular staple breakfast dish in many Indian homes. It is easy-to-make and highly customizable as per personal preference, making it a healthy breakfast option that is loved by many.
Ingredients
- 1 cup Poha (flattened rice)
- 1 tbsp Oil
- 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
- 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
- 6-7 Curry leaves
- 2 Green chillies, chopped
- 1 Onion, chopped
- 1/2 cup Peas
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- 1 Potato, boiled and diced
- Lime juice to taste
- Freshly grated Coconut or Pomegranate pearls (optional)
- Roasted peanuts (optional)
- Sev or Dahi for serving
Directions
- Rinse the Poha under running water and drain the excess water. Keep it aside.
- Heat oil in a pan and add Mustard seeds, Cumin seeds, and Curry leaves. Let them splutter.
- Add chopped Green chillies and Onion, and saute till Onion turns translucent.
- Add Peas and Turmeric powder. Mix well and cook for 1-2 minutes.
- Add drained Poha, diced boiled Potato, and Salt. Mix well.
- Cover and cook for 3-4 minutes on low flame.
- Add Lime juice, grated Coconut or Pomegranate pearls, Roasted peanuts (if using), and mix well.
- Serve hot with Sev or Dahi on top.
