Queen's Delight Chutney Recipe
This chutney has been a closely guarded family secret, but thanks to Pippa Middleton's book, 'Celebrate,' it is now possible for royal fans to enjoy it too. The perfect accompaniment to a crackers and cheese platter, it is a must-try recipe.
Ingredients
- 1.5 kg of Marrow
- 700 g of cooking apples
- 200g Sultanas
- 200g Dates
- 1.1 kg of Demerara Sugar
- 900 ml of Cider Vinegar
- 4 tbsp of Salt
- 2 cloves of Garlic (crushed)
- 2 tbsp of Pickling Spices
- 2 tbsp of Ground Ginger
Directions
- Halve the marrow, scoop out the seeds, and chop into small cubes.
- Peel and core the apples and chop into small cubes, then mix with the marrow in a large pot.
- Add the rest of the ingredients to the pot and stir well.
- Bring to the boil and let it simmer for about 2-3 hours, or until the mixture has thickened.
- Spoon the chutney into sterilized jars and let it cool before adding the lids.
Enjoy this delightful chutney with your favourite crackers and cheese or use it as a condiment with roasted meats.
