Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookies
If you're a fan of chocolate chip cookies but also want to maintain a vegan lifestyle, there's no need to compromise. This recipe replaces traditional cookie ingredients with vegan-friendly alternatives to achieve a rich, buttery flavor and chewy texture without any dairy or eggs. Here's how to make them:
Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup coconut oil, melted
- 1/2 cup applesauce
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup coconut milk
- 1 cup vegan chocolate chips
- Sea salt, to taste
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate large bowl, stir together melted coconut oil, applesauce, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Gradually mix in the bowl of dry ingredients until a thick cookie dough forms. Fold in the coconut milk, adding more flour if the dough is too wet.
- Add the vegan chocolate chips and stir until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Use a cookie scoop to form tablespoon-sized balls of dough, placing each about 2 inches apart on the sheet.
- Sprinkle the tops of the balls of dough with sea salt, to taste.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the cookies are golden brown around the edges and set in the middle.
- Cool on the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Enjoy!
These vegan chocolate chip cookies are a great way to indulge in a classic treat while staying true to your dietary preferences. Give them a try the next time you're craving something sweet and you won't be disappointed.
