Extra Fluffy Cranberry Cinnamon Rolls Recipe Tasting Table

Orange Cranberry Cinnamon Rolls: The Perfect Fall Treat

Don't limit yourself to classic cinnamon rolls; take it to the next level by adding the flavors of orange and cranberry. This breakfast, brunch, or snack-worthy treat is perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth cravings during the cooler fall and winter months.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1 1/2 cups fresh cranberries
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons fresh orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest

Directions:

  1. In a stand mixer bowl, add the warm milk, yeast, granulated sugar, melted butter, eggs, flour, salt, and orange zest. Mix until well combined. Use the dough hook attachment to knead the dough on medium speed for 5-8 minutes, until the dough is smooth and tacky to the touch, but not sticky. If you don't have a stand mixer, knead the dough by hand for about 10 minutes.
  2. Transfer the dough to a clean, greased bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Let the dough rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours, until the dough has doubled in size.
  3. In a saucepan, combine the fresh cranberries, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and heavy cream. Heat on medium-low heat until the sugar melts, the cranberries have popped, and the mixture is thick, stirring frequently for about 10 minutes. Let cool completely.
  4. Preheat the oven to 350 F. Roll the dough up lengthwise into a log shape. Use a serrated knife to cut 1-inch pieces of dough, until you get about 10-12 rolls.
  5. Place the cut-up rolls into a lightly greased 9 or 10-inch cake pan. Cover and let the rolls rise for another 20-30 minutes, until they are puffy.
  6. Bake the rolls in the oven for 25-30 minutes until they are golden on top. Let cool slightly while you make the glaze.
  7. In a small bowl, mix powdered sugar, orange juice, and additional orange zest until well combined.
  8. Pour the glaze over the cinnamon rolls while they are still warm.
  9. Enjoy!

Note: To store, keep the cinnamon rolls in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. Reheat them for about 20 seconds in the microwave before eating them because they are better warm. To freeze, store them in a freezer bag or freezer-safe container and they will keep for up to 3 months.
